ILLUSIONS DESIGNED BY CHRIS BANGLE. Chris Bangle is no stranger to polarising, provocative designs. The now legendary former BMW Chief of Design, who left the company in 2009 to pursue other design passions and who has since opened up his own collaborative design studio in Piemonte, Italy, was famed during his tenure for aggressive, emotional car designs.
Small wonder this made him a perfect candidate to imagine crystals for Swarovski’s Designer Edition Series that are both evocative and dimension defying. His tilted take on crystal geometry manages to exude both space and dimension, even while appearing intrinsically flat. His crystalline forms compresses the third dimension along its axis, leaving behind a decidedly 2.5D feel in a crystal that nevertheless retains volume.
